Take a Walk - Up Elephant Mountain

Here at Who Needs a Gym I want to encourage you to get out and exercise at home and in your neighborhood. You don't need to go to a gym to get fit. You just need to be creative. One of the best exercises you can do is to take a good walk everyday.

This morning I got out of bed early, headed out the door at 7:30am, had a light breakfast and then headed up Elephant Mountain here in Taipei for a good early morning walk. Brilliant weather to do it in. Today was also an accomplishment. Less than three months ago I had reconstruction surgery on my AC ligament and haven't been able to walk up and down stairs very easily. So getting up the mountain was awesome!! That said I have been walking quite well for a while now. One month after the operation I did a 10km walk to work. It was hard and I had to rest the leg for a bit, but I managed to get out and do it and was proud of myself for being able to do that.

So here is the deal: If you haven't done any exercise today yet and don't intend to do any later, stop reading this NOW, stand up and go out the door for a short 30 minute walk in your neighborhood. Walk as fast as is comfortable, swing your arms, walk with purpose, build up a sweat and then head back here and post a comment. Good luck!
